Caylyn, the beautiful whippet/greyhound cross was crowned the Mollys.ie Best Rescue 2009 at Pet Expo in the RDS yesterday.

Poor Caylyn was taken in by North Wexford SPCA after being found at the side of the road. They initialy thought she had been hit by a car but the vet discovered she had actually been shot in the shoulder!
She now has a wonderful home with a loving family and is growing more confident all the time. She had a consultation with pet behaviourist Jim Stephens at the show who assured her loving owner Barbara that Caylyn was doing great.
Caylyn will be having a photo shoot for our new website in the next few weeks, we look forward to seeing her strut her stuff!

In second place was Bonnie, the beautiful and energetic “cappuchino terrier” from Navan who will be competing in the Dublin Marathon for charity this year! She also took part in the Dog Training Ireland agility displays over the weekend.

Joint third place was awarded to Poppy the Yorkie cross, a gorgeous Dogs in Distress rescue (in the middle of the group picture in her owner Gwen’s arms) and Jake the ex DSPCA adorable shaggy bundle of energy we christened a beardy/black rug cross as we had no idea what breed he was!

Congratulations to all of our competitors and their loving owners, it was lovely to meet you and we hope you had as much fun as we did over the weekend. Thanks again for taking part and helping us to spread the word that rescues make great pets!
